This paper discusses the problems associated with gas piping designs incorporating acoustic low pass wave filters for high speed reciprocating compression equipment. It develops a procedure where effective acoustic filtering can be incorporated analytically in the time allowed by the industry. The basic equations for determining surge drum sizes, line sizes, and acoustic filter sizes are developed according to several basic guidelines, and are used in several example problems.
