Abstract
The author discusses cavitation tests made with model turbines at the Holtwood hydraulic laboratory of the Pennsylvania Water and Power Company and points out benefits which have been realized therefrom. In addition to presenting the results of these tests the author compares them with results obtained by other investigators in this field. The author presents his views regarding the further application of the equipment in the Holtwood laboratory for the purpose of investigating various elements in the design of turbines which may have some bearing on their cavitation characteristics. He points out the need of coordinating the results of cavitation investigations now being conducted in various laboratories so that the industry as a whole may be benefited thereby.
